Mr. Sternberg earned his Bachelor of Arts in Social Psychology and Criminal Justice from Florida Atlantic University in 1995. He received his Juris Doctorate magna cum laude from Stetson University College of Law in 1998, where he graduated second in his class, acted as local government digest editor for the Stetson Law Review, and earned Stetson's 1997 Editor of the Year Award. He has maintained close ties to his alma mater — Mr. Sternberg was appointed to Stetson University College of Law's Board of Overseers in 2008 and received the Paul M. May Meritorious Service Award from the Stetson Lawyer's Association in 2010.
After law school, Mr. Sternberg clerked for the Honorable Howard T. Snyder, United States Magistrate Judge, Middle District of Florida, Jacksonville Division. He then practiced commercial litigation at Carlton, Fields, Emmanuel, Smith & Cutler, P.A. and workers' Compensation at Lewen, Reich & Interdonati (later known as Lewen, Reich & Mancini). In 2004, he was a founding attorney for Masnikoff & Sternberg, P.A., a law firm dedicated to workers' Compensation, Longshore Act claims, Social Security Disability and overtime claims. Mr. Sternberg then added immigration law to his practice when he established Scott J. Sternberg & Associates, P.A. in 2010.
In addition to his work with the firm, Mr. Sternberg frequently speaks on radio shows to answer listeners' questions regarding Social Security benefits and workers' Compensation.
Heather Pattok
Heather Pattok has been practicing law since she received her Juris Doctorate from Nova Southeastern University in 2007. She earned Nova Southeastern University's American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers Scholarship for outstanding academic performance in the area of family law, and was a student member of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America. She is certified by the Florida Supreme Court to handle cases referred by government agencies to the Children and Families Law Clinic.
Mrs. Pattok began her legal career with Kelley, Kronenberg, Gilmartin, Fichtel and Wander, P.A., where she represented insurers, third-party administrators and employers in the workers' Compensation arena. Her experience defending insurers has given her a unique knowledge of how to best negotiate and evaluate workers' Compensation claims for plaintiffs. She then went on to join Yaffa and Associates, where her practice focused on dissolution of marriage and other family law proceedings.
Mrs. Pattok joined Scott J. Sternberg and Associates, P.A. in 2011. She now protects the interests of injured workers in court and at the negotiation table. While her goal is to seek resolution outside of the courtroom if doing so is in her clients' best interests, she is ready and willing to litigate should going to court be the most likely way for her clients to receive appropriate Compensation and benefits.
Mrs. Pattok is the former vice president of the Florida Association of Women Lawyers and is a member in good standing with The Florida Bar. Prior to becoming an attorney, she earned her undergraduate degree from Hofstra University in 2004.
